2020 CROCIANI ‘IL SEGRETO DI GIORGIO’ ROSSO TOSCANA - sangiovese - tuscany, italy

$60.00

BRIGHT ACIDITY, LIFTED RED FRUIT, ENERGY.

WHY WE LOVE IT:

The Crociani Estate is owner of vineyards situated at Le Caggiole, one of the most attractive areas in the heart of the Vino Nobile production area in Tuscany. The vineyards, covering about 10 hectares, are on medium-textured soils well-suited to the growth of the vine and producing superb vintages year on year.

Winemaker Susanna Crociani, farms traditional grapes of the area: Sangiovese (locally known as Prugnolo Gentile), Mammolo (a rare and ancient variety that gives very characteristic aromas) and Canaiolo Nero.

Il Segreto di Giorgio" is a cuvée in honor of Susanna’s brother, Giorgio and the blend is in fact, a secret. Susanna will never disclose which are the grapes that make it up or the exact process that leads to its production. We do, however, know that is has to be lions share Sangiovese and, most importantly, it is delicious.

Rich flavours of cherry and red berries, a soft gamey character combined with subtle oak, supple tannins and a lively, taut structure.
